west soma restaurants in the WSJ
Two west soma restaurants were mentioned in the WSJ article “Restaurants, Rethought, Bounce Back”:
In June, laid-off tech worker Dave Mur plans to open Fondue Cowboy on Folsom Street thanks to low rent, reduced fees from an artist on interior murals and a grant from the city’s Redevelopment Agency. In March, two first-time restaurateurs launched Radius, a French-style café also on Folsom, taking advantage of cut-rate rent, auctions of cheap kitchen equipment and a deal from a contractor on a cement floor.
Fondue Cowboy doesn’t look like it’s opened yet, but I’ll have to go and check out the space sometime — looks like it’s right across the street from the park.
As for Radius, it’s one of my new favorite lunch/dinner spots in the hood. The fried chicken is awesome, and be sure to try the homemade pickles. They have a great outdoor space out back, and the expansive sit-down dining room just opened, so I need to go check that out.
